For many homeowners looking to sell their property for a higher price tag, there are some basic recommendations they have to consider before putting their properties in the market.
In an interview with Williams Media's The Real Estate Conversation, industry expert and interior designer Greg Natale enumerated a series of small things that can make a huge difference in terms of returns.
For Natale, the most important step is to declutter the home, removing anything that is unnecessary to the existence of the house. This way, the house will be more presentable to future buyers.
He also recommended painting the house with neutral colours, particularly light and white as these shades are not polarizing, compared to dark colours.
For the interior, Natale suggested purchasing new cushions to bring new life to the living room.
"Having a fresh new cushion story can lift everything. Books also look great on the coffee table and credenza. They are warm and help finish everything off," he told Williams Media.
If the homeowner wants to add flowers, Natale said orchids would be the best pick, given that they are neutral and could attract a wider market.
Ray White's Troy Dowker also chimed in, noting that it is a must to hire a stylist especially if homeowners are at a loss as to the ways to make their houses more pleasing and more purchase-ready.
He told Williams Media that it is important as well to maintain the external surroundings of the house, keeping the landscape tidy.
“If the grass isn’t looking its best, use fertiliser. You want everything looking pretty lush," Dowker said.
